Standard for Wood Fibre Insulating Boards for Buildings (CAN/ULC-S706.1:2016)

Published by: 2016-09-01 / 2016-09-01
This Standard contains the physical property requirements, and test methods to determine these properties, for wood fibre manufactured in the form of faced or unfaced boards, sheets or panels used for insulation in buildings and other applications, whether applied on a building site or in a prefabrication (manufacturing) facility.

The Standard covers two types of wood fibre insulation on the basis of their material properties. The products covered by this standard are classified into Types, Classes and Grades based on their physical properties.

The wood fibre insulating boards shall not be used when the continuous service temperature is outside the range of -30 °C to +80 °C.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this Standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the health and safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this Standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish health and safety practices, in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements, prior to its use.

Published by: 2016-12-16 / 2016-12-16
This standard covers backwater prevention systems that use sensors, controls and mechanisms for
the prevention of backflow for sanitary drainage and storm systems and specifies minimum requirements
for materials, mechanical, electrical, performance tests and markings.
The purpose of this Standard is to enhance health and safety by:

a) Specifying acceptable criteria for sensor operated backwater prevention systems;
b) Serving as a guide for producers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, installers,
inspectors and users; and
c) Promoting understanding regarding materials and manufacturing of sensor operated
backwater prevention systems.

Standard Method of Fire Test for Heat and Visible Smoke Release for Discrete Products (CAN/ULC-S142:2016)

Published by: 2016-09-01 / 2016-09-01
This is a fire test method for determining the fire performance and smoke characteristics of discrete products (including but not limited to electrical and plumbing equipment). These products are subjected to an open flame ignition source and evaluated using a product calorimeter to determine the rate of heat release and the rate of smoke release of the burning product samples.

NOTE: Discrete products as used in this Standard refers to stand-alone, non-continuous product that are not installed in a continuous manner that could be tested in the tunnel equipment referenced in the Standard Method of Test for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and Assemblies, CAN/ULC-S102. Examples of these types of products are speakers, valves, etc.

This test method does not provide information on the performance of products in other fire or test conditions. This test does not investigate the toxicity of the products of combustion.

This test does not cover the constructional, electrical, or other performance requirements of the product.

Published by: Underwriters Laboratories of Canada / 2014-08-21
The requirements of this ORD apply to stationary aboveground and underground precast concrete tanks that are:

  • A Tanks intended for use as primary containment for liquids that are non-destructive to concrete,
such as water contaminated with oil, waste water, or similar products; and
  • B Tanks and vaults intended for use as secondary containment for flammable liquids and/or
    combustible liquids.
